@article{Chira_2026, title={Effective Strategies for Promoting Academic Writing Skills among Students}, url={https://intertext.ulim.md/intertext/article/view/9}, DOI={10.54481/}, abstractNote={ This article examines the challenges and approaches related to academic writing in the context of multilingualism and internationalization, highlighting the role of universities as hybrid cultural and linguistic microcosms. Academic writing remains a central skill in higher education and research, encompassing various types of texts tailored to specific purposes and audiences. Historically, science has been a multilingual field, with distinct scientific languages such as French, German, and English emerging in the 18th and 19th centuries. Today, English dominates many fields, particularly the natural sciences, while the humanities often maintain a broader linguistic diversity. However, concerns about "Anglicization" and its potential to lead to monolingualism and linguistic homogenization are widely debated by researchers. The article presents key methods for preparing students for academic writing, addressing the challenges posed by diverse linguistic backgrounds and international academic norms. These methods include introducing the principles of academic writing—clarity, precision, and adherence to scientific integrity—alongside the development of linguistic and stylistic competencies. Emphasis is placed on structured writing processes, iterative drafting, and the use of tools such as Zotero and Mendeley to support effective research and writing practices. Additionally, cultivating reading and analytical skills, combined with practical exercises such as research proposal writing, enhances students’ preparation for independent research. Multilingual support and awareness of intercultural writing traditions are highlighted, as well as mentoring programs that provide personalized guidance. The research concludes that a holistic, multilingual, and practice-oriented approach is essential to prepare students to navigate the complexities of academic writing, linguistic and cultural diversity, and to achieve success in a globalized higher education system. }, number={1(65)}, journal={Intertext}, author={Chira, Oxana}, year={2026}, month={May}, pages={43–56} }
